Richmond, KY is a lovely town that is home to Eastern Kentucky University, some beautiful historic architecture, and lots of great places to eat and drink. Before you head out on any adventures in and around town, stop by one of these great local coffee shops to start your day off right.

1. Purdy’s Coffee

Purdy’s is open from 7 am-8 pm and has two locations on Main Street and Big Hill Avenue, so no matter when or where your coffee cravings hit, they have you covered. The café is family owned and both locations have a warm, friendly atmosphere that makes you feel right at home as soon as you walk in the front door. They have a selection of high-quality teas as well as great coffee, so no matter your drink of choice you’re sure to find something you like.

2. Bespoke Bakery and Café

Located conveniently right in Richmond Mall, Bespoke is a great place for fresh coffee and pastries. Bespoke’s mission is to provide each customer with something that is made just for them, and this is reflected in their well-thought-out and constantly changing display of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and muffins. Their coffees are crafted with equal care and attention, and we recommend getting one to go with your baked goods of choice.

3. Chrissy’s Country Cousins Café

Chrissy’s is another hidden gem located in Richmond Mall. It has a homey, inviting atmosphere that invites you to take a break from the bustling mall and enjoy a hearty breakfast at one of their many small tables. Prices here are better than anywhere else – you can get breakfast and coffee for less than four dollars! They also have an extensive menu of 5 and 6 dollar lunches. Portions are generous and the food is delicious.

4. Side Porch Café and Bakery

This well-named bakery and café is recognizable by its large outdoor porch. Their display of amazingly delicious pastries and baked goods will make you want to fill up a whole bag to take home with you. They also have lots of keto options for anyone looking to cut back on sugar! Make sure to get a coffee here as well – they serve iced and hot coffee, as well as cold brew and frappes.

5. Berea Coffee & Tea Co.

Located near the local university in Berea, this café has an upscale diner vibe and serves great breakfast and lunch food, pastries, and coffee. The café is usually pretty quiet, so it’s a great place to read a book or study. The lattes here are the best in town, so we really recommend trying one while you’re here!
